Motion Notion Announces First Wave of 2016 Lineup

Just in case April didn’t give you enough of a reason to cash out your savings and buy all of the festival tickets you possibly can – it’s time for one more! Nestled deep in the Rocky Mountain Trench, just outside of Golden, British Columbia lays Motion Notion, one of Western Canada’s longest running electronic music festivals. For four days and four nights, Beaverfoot Lodge is transformed into a sea of adventure where purveyors of music and art gather to explore the realms of creativity and consciousness.

As a festival that has welcomed freedom and growth with open arms for close to two decades, Motion Notion is a major player in the BC festival scene; right up there with Bass Coast and Shambhala in terms of discovery and amazement. Unforgettable views of Canada’s picturesque backyard make the perfect backdrop for whatever you want to discover at MoNo.

“Experiencing music and art in nature helps people to feel the essence of Humanity, the Earth, and the Universe…One sacred rhythm beats within all people and throughout space and time – this primal pulse is what I endeavor to understand and why I continue to create the Motion Notion Festival.” – James Katalyst (Festival founder)

Currently entering into their 17th year of operation, Motion Notion has predominantly showcased the world of breaks and drum & bass in the past, and this year is no different.

This is only the first wave!

The first wave of headliners features heavyweight D&B acts like Aphrodite, Danny Byrd & TC; while names like Far Too Loud, Funkanomics, JFB, Krafty Kuts, and Marten Horger, help round out just some of the incredible breaks you’ll be able to find on this year’s lineup. Others such as Bear Grillz, JackLNDN, Love & Light, and Sander Kleinenberg bring their own unique styles that will provide a steady feed to the soundtrack of your weekend.

All this, of course, backed by some of Canada’s biggest names in the scene today with the likes of Cain. 1, Longwalkshortdock, Mark Instinct, Pigeon Hole, Skiitour, and Wackutt representing just some of the talent that’s been released so far!

Keep your eyes peeled for more artists as they’re released over the following weeks, as there’s bound to be just as many surprises coming our way soon. Tickets run for $270 CAD, plus tax, and are still available online or through one of five outlets between BC & Alberta.

There are the usual extras available, such as early entry for $40, and vehicle passes ranging from $20-40. But exclusive to Motion Notion, at least in our experiences at festivals held in the BC wilderness, is the option to purchase a posh-potty wristband. For $40 you get unlimited use of the posh-potty facility which includes access to flush toilets & urinals, tile floors, lighting, sinks, running water, mirrors, paper towels, and one of the more important festival items out there – toilet paper.

Part man, part buffalo, part maple syrup. Pretty much the Canadian version of Grizzly Adams.
