Gaining SUBstance: KJ Sawka & ill.Gates Shaping Future Bass Producers (Exclusive Interview)

Earlier this year when we heard that KJ Sawka and ill.Gates were going to be teaming up to bring us new music, our little basshead hearts nearly stopped.  Kevin “KJ” Sawka and ill.Gates have known each other for a long time, and the two have just finished their first track together. KJ is a world class live drummer and midi specialist, and ill.Gates is a DJ/VJ that has recently started to dabble in midi performance.

They started to put more of a live focus on what ill.Gates was doing, added in a short original film, and the midi video battle was born. It’s a performance format that the two are pioneering, bringing KJ’s insane skills on a drum pad and midi board with ill.Gates’ DJ and VJ skills. It all comes together in one big explosion of bass in a collaboration of two Unsung Heroes, creating auditory art for you to enjoy in a festive display of raging your face off.
