It’s cool to remix your friend’s music, whether you’re trying to one-up them or just mess with their music. It’s especially entertaining if you’re Diplo and your friend is Lorde.
Diplo and Lorde have known each other for a few years; allegedly, Diplo was one of the first artists to vouch for Lorde when her career was just getting off the ground. Diplo has visited Lorde in New Zealand and they’ve gone tubing together. Clearly a cool friendship.
So being a good friend, when his buddy made a song called Tennis Court, Diplo got clever and made a remix called the Andre Agassi Remix. Is this a reference to Diplo’s place on the tennis court as the grand master poobah? Is the photo that he used a reference to Lorde’s frizzy hair? Or perhaps a compliment, alluding to her flowing locks? (Who knew Andre Agassi wasn’t always bald?!)
