Fak Wednesday’s has built one hell of a reputation in Portland. Once known as Whiskey Wednesday’s, BennyRox and his crew took over Wednesday’s at the Whiskey Bar, sometimes even combining forces with Portland’s Red Cube Productions. Packing the bar on a weekly basis has become the norm. Snagging a ticket can be tough to come by as the night just passed its official 1 year mark! Fak Wednesday has been nothing short of inspirational to the PDX dance music scene but also to Benny himself. You could feel the energy build with Benny as he began to talk about it. After building it up for three years it seems all the hard work and dedication has paid off.
The one year anniversary snuck up on me, its been a crazy road with up’s and downs, I mean the worst night was when it snowed in Portland and we still almost packed the house that night.
At first we were like we want to start our own night, or our own party and reputation, but the party is already built and established. Like even last week Red Cube asked if they could use Wednesday and numerous other ones. My answer is of course you can! They’re a big ass company I look up to. You look up to the people before you and I have a lot of respect for Red Cube with 11 years of experience. Red Cube has helped a lot, it’s cool ya know having the backup of someone already established.
It’s weird and cheesy to talk about the vibes but when you walk into the room on Wednesday’s you feel welcome, you don’t feel like you have to try to fit in all the time.
