Beatport Enters Streaming Fray With Subscription-less, Ad-Free Service

Joining the music streaming fray with the likes of iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud, Pandora, and more, Beatport has launched the beta of their new free music streaming service. Tying the recently unveiled Beatport Pro online store to their free music service, Beatport is attempting to become exactly what their slogan says: “The Home of Electronic Music”. With the backing of SFX Entertainment, an unmatched catalog of dance music tunes, and a brand new online store that is growing on everyone, Beatport may become just that.

In order to try out the new streaming service, which takes over the beatport.com URL, you’ll have to sign up via e-mail and wait for an invite. Over at TechCrunch they’ve received such an invite and gave a review of the service thus far, which seems to be pretty solid. The new Beatport will offer free streaming of music and mixes, and will have sections for news, videos, and shows.

According to TechCrunch, the layout is centered on discovering new music, rather than enjoying music you already know or own. You’re able to browse the various aspects of the site without interrupting your song or playlist of choice, with the ready-made option to head over to Beatport Pro and purchase songs always available. The site is funded through their sales via Beatport Pro, so that means there’s no ads or subscription fees to worry about either.

It looks like some of our favorite streaming sites will have some serious competition when it comes to fans of EDM, whenever Beatport works out their beta kinks. Let us know if you’ll be trying out Beatport’s new free streaming service and what you think of Beatport Pro!
