This month, popular dubstep artist Yakz performed at Substation for his Escape Room North America Tour. We attended this event and were absolutely blown away by the performances and the super special guest of the night.
Yakz has performed at venues and festivals across the country and is a huge part of the Los Angeles dubstep scene. For this tour, Yakz brought the up-and-coming producer Sisto with him. Coming out of San Jose California, Sisto has been pushing the boundaries of dubstep and riddim with a signature style not heard anywhere else. He is quickly becoming a well-known name in the bass music scene.
Local artist Svpervillain opened up the show with a thrilling performance worthy of the already massive crowd. Sporting a glowing skull mask, Svpervillain got the crowd moving with some heavy dubstep tunes and a ton of tracks from his extensive catalog.
Sisto performed next and astonished us with an amazing set packed with great tracks. These included some of his recent releases from the “Pawns Corpse” and “Visualize” EPs, as well as many unreleased tracks from his 2022 showcase. He even added in some great remixes of timeless EDM classics and brought every song complete with his signature ultra distorted sound design and unique flow.
Yakz headlined the show and absolutely stunned the now packed venue. He played many if not all of the tracks from his featured Escape Room EP, as well as tracks from previous releases including his On the Run and Kill Switch EP’s. This set was chocked full of riddim masterpieces and songs that you couldn’t help but move to. From beginning to end he did not disappoint and kept the crowd dancing, headbanging, and moshing for the majority of the show.
However, before Yakz closed out the show he decided to bring out super special guest Svdden Death for a back-to-back set that no one was expecting. Svdden Death and Yakz absolutely decimated the audience, playing many songs of the recently released Voyd 2, along with countless tunes from their friends, fellow producers, and each other.
Audience members were stunned to see such an all-star lineup at such an intimate venue. There was not a single person we saw that did not leave Substation sweating, smiling, singing, or rather, screaming. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we were extremely thankful to witness.
