One of the most expansive live-stream festivals to date, Room Service Festival aired this past weekend. The Brownies and Lemonade and Proximity labels hosted following the success of Digital Mirage Festival, this time streaming on popular YouTube channels Trap Nation and Chill Nation. Featuring a wide lineup, artists pushed creative bounds for their mixing setups. DJs played out of the back of a Jeep like JOYRYDE, and What So Not performed a throwback Pixies song floating on his back in a swimming pool. B.C. native Whipped Cream performed outside against a stunning Canadian backdrop. Aside from impressive setups, other DJs took a risk in debuting new music ahead of its release.
In a surprise, Whethan previewed his forthcoming album, Fantasy. Not a typical DJ set, the indie-centric future bass artist danced to a pre-recorded mix that included unreleased tracks. Some viewers were angered by the previously recorded mix, although it’s important to note that the entire festival was pre-recorded. For whatever amount of negativity Whethan faced, he handled it in stride on Twitter and thanked his fans for the force of positivity ahead of his new release.

While Fantasy is yet to have an official release date, if the preview gives any indication of the full length project, we’re in luck. Known for bubbly, upbeat, alternative electronic bass, this album appears to be no exception. If you missed his Room Service Festival set, you may have to do a fair amount of digging through SoundCloud or Reddit to track it down. For now, while we idly wait, you can play his first single off the album on repeat. Released last week on April 24th, check out the lyric video to So Good below.
