After the first phase of the 2014 What the Festival lineup was released, anticipation grew for what was to come with the second phase. After the announcement excitement came along with the new names, as well as one little surprise. One name on that second phase is no stranger to the WFT lineup, and that name is World’s Finest. This five man group from Portland has been gaining huge local support since 2011 for their strikingly unique sound. If you were to throw reggae, folk, bluegrass, and lovely acoustic vocals together into a blender, World’s Finest would be your end result.
Unlike most festival sets, where raggers and bangers are heard at every stage, World’s Finest brings about a whole different feel. Their laid back, beachy vibe is perfect for the hot summer afternoons that you will experience at What the Festival. Another fantastic attribute that set’s this performance aside is the fact that it’s a live band bringing you guitar, bass, banjo, saxophone, and drums. Doesn’t that sound like a nice departure from the festival norm?
To become more familiar with World’s Finest sound before the festival, check out their two albums Patterns and 33. Come late spring to early summer the boys will be hitting the studio to record their third full length album and what’s said to be the absolute best yet!
