Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats label just released their fourth compilation album, in sync with their now-annual DeadRocks event. The duo has slowly been releasing singles over the last few months, but the 14-song album is finally here. Creating a more mature sound that captures their expansion as artists, it’s impossible to confine this album into any sense of a sub-genre.
They’ve also amassed a swath of talent to support the project from top to bottom as Deadbeats-signed artists and others. Every featured artist contributes a unique sound that Zeds Dead doesn’t overshadow, but rather enhances and amplifies. One of the highlight examples of this approach is After the Water featuring Champagne Drip. Using melodic riddim sounds popular in their other songs like ETERNAL NOW, Champagne Drip and Zeds Dead combine with haunting vocals and a low kickdrum bass that keeps you playing this over and over again.
Although almost half of the album had already been released, there were plenty of new tracks. Some of our favorite new tracks include Save My Grave with DNMO and GG Magree, and Asteroid with Holly. Slushii and OmarLinX also made appearances which gave the album two additional directions in future bass and hip hop.
Every song on the album uniquely showcases the outside-of-the-box sound that the entire Deadbeats label is driven on. Nothing’s promised on a Zeds Dead album, except the drops will always impress as the duo continue to expand their foothold as prominent forces in electronic music.
