Our favorite dance and performance art troupe, Subscura, will be returning to the stage for their biggest performance to date. With roots in the Vancouver electronic music community, the girls have had the pleasure of sharing the stage at some of British Columbia’s biggest festivals. Subscura without a doubt has been bridging the gap between performance art and live music. It’s that exact reason that each and every time they hit the stage, their audience is left with a lasting impression of creative, awe and inspiration. Their latest performance and first of many for 2017 will be no different and we can’t wait to see whats in store!
Coming to the Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver’s downtown Eastside this March, the girls will be performing their longest set date. A 40 minute opening performance will once again showcase Subscura’s multidimensional skill set from aeriel hoops, circus acts, dancing and more. The night will also feature Erica Dee and a highlining performance by Dirtwire feat. David Satori of Beats Antiques. The night promises to be one of great times, good music and plenty of dancing! We were quite fortunate enough to catch multiple acts of last year’s “Volition” as well as 2015’s “Wake”. Keeping true to our word we certainly won’t be missing our opportunity to see the girls perform again and encourage you to join us.
We’re reminded constantly of how things like music can bring together people who may not have anything else in common. More than that we’re reminded of music’s ability to spark creativity and a passion to express ones self in a number of ways. Subscura is exactly that, in which they’re able to go beyond the stage, break the barrier of a DJ booth and enter the hearts and minds of their audience. There’s something to be said about anyone who’s able to make an impact on another without ever speaking a single word. Subscura brings to life the emotion of music, dance and other performance pieces with a passion for their craft. Their hard work, dedication and sheer love for the arts can be felt by the hearts and minds of any audience member.
As Subscura grows we look forward to seeing them go beyond the opening slot and festival stages. The girls have expressed that in 2017, they look to expand their performances out of the underground and into new light. Certainly this year will be filled with lots of great things for Subscura and we wish them the best of luck! For tickets to their next performance on March 15th, head over to the official event Facebook Page and get a pair while you can. Their last event sold out and we’re expecting this one to as well.
