If there is one thing we can never get enough of, it’s the British Columbia dance community. They have been able to grow and foster a network of music fans who care equally about one another as they do the music itself. Any given Saturday at Red Room guarantees a run in with a fellow Shambhalite. It’s one of the few places that feels like it’s focus is to showcase amazing artist and music, while providing a place for the community to recognize as its own. While most other clubs try to sell out and pack in as many people as possible, Red Room opts to give its patrons enough room to dance, even on sold out nights.
It’s no wonder Red Room became a favorite for those who call Vancouver home, and even those who are just passing through. 2015 saw international acts such as Getter, Andy C, Figure and KJ Sawka, as well as local favorites like Neon Steve, Skii Tour, and Stickybuds. McRitchie has made it his mission to bring in some of the biggest, best and up-and-coming names in Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Glitch, Trap. Beyond the weekly Saturday night, Red Room has also been the host of some of the must attend holiday events including Halloween, and more recently New Year Eve; which we attended and had the time of our lives!
While we know each club or venue from offers its own unique vibe, it’s nice to see a change of pace from time to time. We highly suggest anyone who’s never been to The Red Room to check out a show when they can. If you need a little more convincing check out these upcoming events.
