Alvin Risk
Alvin Risk (aka Marcio Alvarado) blew the crowd who witnessed his set at FreakNight 2013 away at the WaMu Theater last October, and then again after passing through Foundation Nightclub soon after that. The versatile OWSLA producer (and argyle enthusiast) is a Washington D.C. native whose unique sound combines the likes of electro, dubstep, drum & bass, and everything else he seems he’s able to get his hands on. He’s released four EPs, one each year from 2010-2013, with the latest coming out in May of 2013 titled JunkFood. His tunes and sets are as delightful and filthy as junk food itself, so indulge this summer and dig into Alvin Risk at Paradiso 2014.
Bassnectar
Just a few days before Paradiso 2014, headliner Bassnectar will be releasing his 10th studio album, entitled Noise vs. Beauty. It’s an exciting time for fans of the man also known as Lorin Ashton, especially those of us in the Northwest who witnessed his mind (and speaker) blowing performance at Bumbershoot 2013. Noise vs. Beauty will be Bassnectar’s first big batch of new tunes since his last album, Vava Voom in 2012, and the anticipation couldn’t be higher. He’s a great catch by USC Events, both in terms of timing and quality. Can you imagine a better venue at which to witness Bassnectar live? Neither can we.
Cookie Monsta
Currently out on tour with Zomboy, Cookie Monsta (aka Tony Cook) is another great addition to the long-list of great dubstep acts on the Paradiso lineup. A member of the Circus Records roster along with the likes of Flux Pavilion, Doctor P, and FuntCase, Cookie Monsta works with and learns from the best. His grimey tunes epitomize the evolution of dubstep and dance music in recent years. Don’t miss one of the major influences in the future of bass music in Cookie Monsta at Paradiso 2014.

Datsik
Canadian dubstep fan-favorite Datsik (aka Troy Beetles) has been producing massive tunes since beginning his career in 2009, and there’s no sign of the 25-year-old slowing down anytime soon. Developing alongside one of dubstep’s figureheads Excision, and collaborating with the likes of Diplo, Noisia, and Bassnectar, Datsik has a refined and solid sound that rivals any other major artist.
Excision
British Columbia-native Excision, aka Jeff Abel, has a lot going on these days. Between balancing his roles in Excision and Destroid, as well as running his record companies (Rottun Recordings and Destroid Records), it seems as though Abel is attempting to take over dubstep, and we’re more than okay with that. He left the WaMu Theater ‘Destroid‘ at FreakNight 2013 and toured the Northwest during his ‘Executioner‘ tour earlier this year. Here’s to another addition to his collection of great Northwest performances.
Flux Pavilion
The co-founder of Circus Records with fellow Brit and childhood friend Doctor P, Flux Pavilion will be locking in his bass cannon for The Gorge this summer. The 25-year-old, also known as Joshua Steele, has been firing that cannon all over dubstep since he began releasing music in 2008. Flux has released five EPs in that time, two of which came to us last year. He’s made several trips to the Northwest in recent years and hopefully there will be more to come.
