Your Ultimate Guide to Shows This October

Festival season may be over, but with all that’s happening this month it sure doesn’t feel like it. It seems there’s something happening nearly every single day… oh wait, there is! All of this just means one big drawn-out pre-funk to Halloween weekend’s events. We have artists spanning all genres gracing us with their presence all month long at tons of different venues, so if you’re bored it must be because you’re not taking advantage of these shows! All we have to say is BRING IT ON.

Big Gigantic

To kick things off, we’re heading to The Showbox SoDo to get funky with Big Gigantic and The Floozies. Big G was one of the most fun sets at Paradiso this summer, and there’s no way we’re going to miss this. The Floozies were just here for Bumbershoot, so if you missed them once don’t do it again! With tons of live elements from both artists, this is not going to be a “press play” kind of night by any means. Take us to Funkytown!

Ooah & Ana Sia

If Ooah sounds like more of a battle cry than an artist’s name to you, then I guess we should clarify. Ooah is a member of the all hallowed Glitch Mob and Ana Sia is a renowned house music tastemaker. Since it’s very atypical to catch Ooah outside of The Glitch Mob, we highly recommend making the journey to Q to see this very rare performance.

CHVRCHES

Scottish electronic band CHVRCHES will be playing two shows at The Paramount this month. They just released their sophomore album Every Open Eye on September 25 so there should be no shortage of new music for them to perform. Another great act with tons of live instruments (can you tell we’re into that?), they are a “Can’t Miss” in our book.

Gareth Emery

Earlier this year, after commenting on manufactured DJs who just press play and don’t know how to build a set, Gareth Emery announced his Electric For Life Tour. We were overjoyed when Seattle was added to the tour, which features open-to-close sets at each stop. This ensures that the artist can really guide the audience on a journey throughout the set. So are you ready to go for a Drive with Gareth Emery?

FreakNight

USC Events’ yearly Halloween celebration will be taking place at The Tacoma Dome this year with epic names like Deadmau5 and Nero to draw us in. Come for the headliners but stay for the rest like Mat Zo, TyDi, Myon & Shane54, Don Diablo, and so many more. Boasting a killer lineup, a sideshow, carnival rides, circus performers, and two nights, FreakNight is sure to be one for the books.

Pet Cemetery

For the local house cats, Upper Left presents Pet Cemetery this Halloween at the Fremont Foundry. Not only does this event feature Cashmere Cat and Motez, but we might be able to get you in for free! Get those costumes ready and enter our giveaway here for your chance to win two tickets.
