Police are investigating a suspicious death at the Pemberton Music Festival that occurred Friday night. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is handling the investigation and has cordoned an area in the camp grounds where the death occurred.Festival attendees have even tweeted that the area will most likely be cordoned off all weekend. IHIT Sgt. Jennifer Pound says that the body is still on the festival grounds and is being removed today. IHIT tweeted that the cause of death is not yet confirmed, and they haven’t confirmed if foul play was involved.
Police are urging festival goers to contact their families to let them know that they are okay.
Despite this tragedy, the festival will indeed continue on. According to a statement released by HUKA Entertainment, the production company behind the festival, “HUKA entertainment is working with Pemberton Fire & Rescue to care for campers who need to be relocated”.
Investigators have identified the victim and are working on notifying the next of kin.
There have been a few festival deaths as of recent, notably at the Future Music Festival Asia, and the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. Hopefully there will be more answers shortly.
