4. Dillon Francis – Money Sucks, Friends Rule – July 2014
Although the release date has been pushed back, fans of Dillon Francis know that when his first album comes out sometime in July, it will be worth the wait. Francis hasn’t kept fans without new music though. He’s released a remix package of his track Without You featuring Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, a bootleg of Daft Punk’s Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, as well as a couple tracks from his upcoming major work Money Sucks, Friends Rule. The debut album from the moombahton maestro will be released via Mad Decent and Columbia Records.
Get Low (a collab with Frenchman DJ Snake) and Set Me Free (a collab with EDM wunderkind Martin Garrix) have been out for a couple months and made their way into Francis’ Ultra Music Festival set as well. The massively popular and socially savvy Francis will have many people looking forward to his first release, who will also most definitely ‘gafos’.
3. NERO – Album Title TBA – TBA 2014
Not much is known about the what or when on NERO’s upcoming album. But we do know this, (much like winter) it is coming.
Those tweets in November of 2013 were the only crumbs of information until Satisfy, the first single off of the yet to be named album, was released on May 13th. The quality of their debut album Welcome Reality, and NERO productions in general, has many waiting on pins and needles for more. Whenever the upcoming album is released, it will surely live up to the high standard the British trio has set for themselves.
2. Porter Robinson – Worlds – August 12th
One of the most anticipated and discussed albums of the year, Porter Robinson’s Worlds will be available August 12th via Astralwerks and Virgin EMI. Two tracks from Robinson’s debut studio album, Sea of Voices and Sad Machine, have been released and received outstanding support. Much has been said about the direction and style of the album relative to the current ‘EDM’ industry structure. If these initial tracks are any indication, that style and direction is exactly what ‘EDM’ needs.
In addition to the Worlds album, the North Carolina native recently announced a ‘Worlds’ North American tour would take place. Luckily, stops scattered throughout the Northwest are featured on the tour, including Seattle, Spokane, Portland, Eugene, and Boise.
