Avicii’s final LP, TIM, has sat #1 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums for the past three weeks, and it looks like this dance music legend won’t be dethroned any time soon.
A posthumous release, the 12-track LP immediately shot to the top of the charts, where it still sits to this day. TIM joins Avicii’s previous two albums,True and Stories, which both held the #1 spot as well.
Tim Bergling, professionally known as Avicii, was the Swedish superstar who influenced many others to make music. Artists such as Kygo, Skrillex, and Martin Garrix quote him as a source of inspiration. A one-of-a-kind talent, Avicii was uniquely known for his musical ability to blend soul, funk, blues, folk, and country with EDM. His impact is still felt across the scene today, many of his peers honoring his legacy by playing classic Avicii hits like Levels and Without You at festivals, and clubs, worldwide.
TIM gives us some closure on his passing. It’s release has generated some controversy, but it was done for a good cause as proceeds of the album go directly toward the Tim Bergling Foundation- launched by his family after Tim’s passing. It’s purpose is to tackle mental health awareness and suicide prevention in hope that it can prevent other families from experiencing similar events.
TIM was released on June 5 and you can purchase it here.
