Diplo and his Mad Decent friends are hitting the road again this summer for Mad Decent Block Party 2016. The party won’t be coming through Washington state or British Columbia this year (sigh), but it WILL make it’s return to the Cuthbert Amphitheater in Eugene, OR. for another round of fun in the sun. Headlining the September 9th Eugene show is someone who is no stranger to the Pacific Northwest: 2015 Freaknight and 2013 Paradiso headliner, Tiësto. Wait… Tiësto touring with the ever so energetic Mad Decent crew? What?!
Tiësto joins Kaskade, Galantis, and Kesha as noticeable additions to a lineup that has been more hip-hop, dancehall, trap, and house oriented in recent memory. Combined with MDBP regulars like Dillon Francis, Grandtheft, RL Grime, and Flosstradamus – this year’s rolling summer block party promises to be the most diverse one yet.
Joining the Grammy winning Dutchman in Oregon are Herobust, Jai Wolf, Keys N Krates, Neo Fresco, and Party Favor, with more artists to be announced. General admission (18+) tickets are on sale now and run for $61. Last year’s sold out Eugene show was a hit, so it may be wise to act sooner, rather than later, as September slowly inches ever so closer.
The Mad Decent Block Party started as a free street festival in 2008, and has evolved into a country-spanning tour headlined by the likes of Major Lazer, Skrillex, Jack Ü, and some of the nation’s up and coming rappers. Following two drug deaths at MDBP Washington, D.C. 2014, Diplo made a controversial decision to ban kandi at all MDBP events, a decision that is still debated to this day within the rave community. The ban is still in effect this year so you will want to keep the kandi at home!
