[divider]The Musical Journey From Trance[/divider]
Perhaps the most talked about aspect of Tiesto’s career was the day he decided to move away from trance into music more suited for a festival mainstage. As it is with any musical evolution, there are always going to be people asking one simple question: Why?
DMNW: Perhaps the most talked about aspect of your musical career is your transition from trance into progressive house. Artistically, what is it that drove you towards that new direction, and what are your plans for the future of your sound?
Tiesto: It’s really part of my evolution as an artist. I do embrace my past success but at the same time want to move forward. So what you hear on my new album [A Town Called Paradise] is a part of the journey and where I’m at right now. As for the future, who knows!?
As fans, it’s easy for to forget that the music an artist makes belongs to them as much as it does to us. More often than not though, a change is largely regarded with shock and criticism. This shock though is a testament to role Tiesto played in trance music for his time in the genre, and the massive fanbase he accumulated along the way.
