Tropical house fans rejoice! Thomas Jack has signed his first record deal with Parlophone Records. He’s pretty stoked about it and so are we, because it means we’re one step closer to making tropical house an official sub-genre of music (well, that and the trademark he has filed for the name). Sorry, Tommie Sunshine and Kaskade, it looks like tropical house is here to stay.
Not familiar with the genre? The term “tropical house” was initially coined as joke, when people pressured Jack to find a name to the music he was creating. The genre is a subgenre of deep house with a 4/4 kick, synthesizer instrumentation with saxophone and flute.
Now that Jack has signed with Parlophone Records, there’s a very good chance we’ll be seeing new music releases. Though Jack has been on tour for the past few months, even making a stopover in Seattle last month at The Crocodile, he has yet to put out any new tracks since 2014. Thomas Jack will also be hosting a monthly tropical house show on Pete Tong’s Evolution Radio. Though the the deal is still being finalized, the show is scheduled to start in April with an hour-long mix from Jack and an hour-long mix from a guest artist.
