Call this a Shambhala hype piece if you’d like, but Shambhalove is something that we wish would carry on outside of a festival, outside of the dance community and into every person. It’s respect and understanding, it’s doing a good deed or helping someone in need. We can’t be perfect all of the time, but Shambhalove is that little thing in the back of our heads that reminds us we’re all humans no matter what race, color, or religion. So is the “festival experience” about how many bands you saw, trying new things, or outdrinking a friend? Or is it about joining a community and leaving it with something you can carry on after the stages close?
Festivals have become the butt of many jokes as a place to just do drugs and hide from adult responsibilities. Thankfully, however, amongst the masses, there are those that still stand true to their beliefs, and each year they change the lives of 1,000’s and promote the idea of community. It’s ideas like this that help fuel the fire for a better world. If all it takes is getting people together once a year on a farm to get people to act kinder, more responsible or be more environmentally conscience then we’re all in. A round of applause to the Shambhala crew for helping curate an event that truly inspires.
