If there’s one thing we love, it’s showing off our local Northwest musical talent. Lucky for us, Seattle’s own DJ Veaux did all of the work this time, making an all-local Best of 2014 mix that calls for major celebration and reminiscing. And dancing. Lots of dancing.
The voracious Veaux selected the top local tracks of the year, blending them into a 90-minute blissful mix featured on his podcast, Sound Cafe. DJ Veaux’s Sound Cafe podcast focuses solely on tunes made by Pacific Northwest artists, making it a must-hear mix each month. What’s even more special about this particular end-of-the-year episode it that this marks Sound Cafe‘s 1-year Anniversary! Even more reason to dance!

I’m absolutely humbled every month to continually find more and more amazing NW artists. In my opinion, it’s the best place to stand out as a producer in America considering we have on our doorstep one of the country’s biggest EDM Stations, C89.5, and a very influential blog!

Expect to hear some big-time local talent in this best-of-2014 mix, including Eugene-based Aaron Jackson who made massive moves this past year, and perhaps get an introduction to some PNW artists you may not know including Jae, Dreamcast and Oliver Chang.
“I’ve really been diggin’ my friends Bassrock, Oliver Chang, Jae, Dreamcast and Frequent Flyer Miles. I’ve always been partial to great melodies, and I really think each one of these guys has a very nice ear to creating them.”
Other Northwest artists in the mix who had huge releases this year are Treyis and Suspect 44. And, of course, it wouldn’t be fair if DJ Veaux didn’t give himself some credit, so get ready for a couple fun bootlegs and remixes from him as well. [divider]What’s next for Sound Cafe?[/divider]
My vision is to see Sound Cafe expand into a program that caters the best of our local scene to EDM lovers around the region in both live show and podcast formats! A friend and myself are currently looking into starting up a local-only artist night… possibly expanding these nights to Oregon and Idaho and establishing a little circuit to provide some valuable gigging experience/exposure to our local acts. Just thoughts for now, but how we’ll do that, that’ll be the exciting part to sort out.
