For most of The Dance Music Diaries‘s run so far, we’ve seen them sit down with local luminaries that have helped build the Northwest scene from the ground up. For Episode 7 though, Kevin and Cameron have gone slightly off script and brought in a giant of the trance scene, Arctic Moon. Known to his friends as Tomasz Popielarski, the Polish DJ has been producing since he was 15 years old, before discovering trance back in 2007.
In the almost 40 minute long interview, Tomasz details his origins in hard dance (known in Europe as “hands up”), the transition into trance, and learning to get out of the studio and behind the decks DJing. The general impression we got from listening in is that Arctic Moon may very well be one of the hardest working artists in the business. We’ve heard the stories from our own scene, and now that The Dance Music Diaries have extended all the way out to the rest of the world, we have some important context that really puts the Northwest in perspective.
