The Northwest dance music scene is one that is singularly unique. It’s been around since the days of warehouse raving, and yet still doesn’t quite have the commercialism of cities like New York and Miami. There’s a show going on virtually every weekend, but we don’t have the lineup of big name clubs like Vegas. Here to perfectly encapsulate that dichotomy is our favorite new podcast, The Dance Music Diaries.
The Dance Music Diaries is a long-form interview podcast. It’s hosts, Kevin and Cameron, take an in-depth look at the lives and careers of some of the most talented and successful names in dance music. From who or what first turned them on to electronic music, to their biggest hits and upcoming projects, DMD’s guests give you an inside look at who they are, where they’ve been, and how they got where they are today.
As the only podcast out there that truly digs into our scene, DMD is set to be your one stop shop for everything local. With their inaugural episode having released today, coming up they have interviews with PNW luminaries Darrius, Wesley Holmes, and Zacharia, each of which will provide a one-of-a-kind perspective that can only be provided by the people who’ve helped build what we have today. This week, Kevin and Cameron sit down with the voice of “The Vortex” on C89.5 Drew Bailey, as they talk over the history of dance music radio up here in Seattle. Covering everything from how Drew got his start to what the early days of C89.5 were like, it’s the perfect start to a journey we’re convinced you’ll want join.
