If you’ve been paying attention to Twitter today, you may have noticed The Chainsmokers’ taking to their account to voice some strong opinions on the stigma behind artists being dubbed “sellouts.” The duo has seen an explosion of popularity following the release of #SELFIE, even leading to an appearance on American Idol to go along with signing two separate million dollar recording deals. In the face of popularity though, there will always be people ready to take up their pitchforks and torches.

It wasn’t long for other artists began weighing in, with Porter Robinson and Mat Zo taking up the other side of the debate.

There’s certainly value to both sides of this argument. On one hand, there shouldn’t be anything wrong with wanting to make a comfortable living off of your art. On the other, there are certainly artists out there who only have eyes of dollar signs. Where do you stand? Is the frustration of The Chainsmokers justified, or are Porter and Mat Zo on to something about the greater state of the EDM scene?
