No matter who you pledge your streaming allegiance to, it’s undeniable that Spotify has some pretty cool features. We’re big fans of their Running feature already, but the most recent addition is a “Party” function. Much like the Moods section, Party hosts several different genre-based playlists. Upon choosing a playlist, you get to choose between three levels of intensity that you would like to hear. So whether things are just getting warmed up, you’re in the groove, or you’re in rage-your-face-off mode, there’s a setting for that.
The tracks on each list have been mixed by DJs so that you have smooth transitions between songs as well as some killer mashups. One such DJ includes the Mad Decent king himself, Diplo. He worked with Spotify to make sure this feature met its full potential and has thus earned his own Diplo & Friends playlist that we may or may not really love. There’s also a Holiday Party, Pop Party, Electro Blowout, and several other parties available. No matter your taste, the Party function is a great new option available to Spotify users whether you’re hosting a real party or just a traffic-induced dance party in your car.
“Researching and picking out music is fun, it also takes a lot of time and effort. With Spotify Party, you’re served with loads of beat-matched music that transitions perfectly, which you can easily adapt to whatever your current vibe is. Best of all, you don’t have to do any of the legwork.” -Diplo
We’ve given it a bit of a test run and so far it’s fun and functional. Though we love the Running feature, this feature could also be used to keep workouts going at a pace of your choosing. All we can hope for is more playlist/genre options as the function develops and user feedback is collected.
