Noisia
Dutch trio Noisia (made up by Nik Roos, Martijn van Sonderen, Thijs de Vlieger) are another of the top class acts USC Events was able to secure for FreakNight 2014. Between them they own three record labels and have become one of the top drum & bass acts in dance music. Their technical skill is second-to-none and the depth of their productions leaves nothing done without purpose. Noisia last graced the Northwest with their talents at Paradiso 2013 and we’re happy we didn’t have to wait too long for another show. If you make the mistake of missing their set, it will surely be the worst thing that could haunt you this FreakNight.
Planet of the Drums
Planet of the Drums is an act that drum & bass fans will be rushing to see at FreakNight 2014. Four of the top DnB DJs in dance music combine to form Planet of the Drums in 2000: AK1200 (Dave Minner), DJ Dara (Darragh Guilfoyle), Dieselboy (Damian Higgins), and MC Messinian (James Fiorella). The concept of POTD has evolved from it’s conception 15 years ago and has a stated goal that, 15 years on, looks to be going pretty damn well.
“We feel that it is our calling to not only promote quality drum and bass Stateside, but also help provide a voice for our scene as well. Our music has languished in small back rooms on undersized sound rigs for far too long. We are taking a firm stand— ’enough is enough.’ ” – Planet of the Drums’ Facebook
If that doesn’t get you pumped to check out Planet of the Drums at FreakNight 2014, then the bass stage may not be for you.
