Summer is on the way out and we begin to wave goodbye to another incredible festival season. As if it wasn’t hard enough to pick which festivals you’ll be attending for 2017, we’re pleased to add another to that list. Coming to beautiful Sun Peaks, British Columbia is Europe’s largest snow and music festival, Snowbombing. The festival has already taken home countless awards and is considered one of Europe’s must attend music festivals.
The 5 day event is hitting the slopes (literally) April 6th-10th, and will bring together an international lineup of music and snowsports. While this is the first time Snowbombing will be showing itself in North America, it’s 17 year history has already shown its success. If you’re curious on just what it is you’ll be getting into, be sure to check out the promo video Snowbombing has put together for 2017.
Chosen for being one of Canada’s best skiing locations, and the fact it looks oddly similar to the home location of Snowbombing, Maxyrhofen, Austria. Snow Peaks shows promise to be the perfect, snow covered back drop for the festivals first North American appearance. With all the camping and being woken up at 8am from the heat of most other festivals, Snowbombing is a welcomed change. The event will take advantage of the infrastructure already set in place at Sun Peaks resort. Attendees will be a short walk away from their hotels or vacation rentals. We’re looking forward to spending a little time in the snow and experiencing what so many others have.
“With mountains as a perimeter fence and boasting some of the most awe inspiring festival venues in the world, including sky-high mountain shacks, mystical forests stages, trail-side pool parties, road-block street carnivals, cosy alpine lodges and medieval barns, Coors Light Snowbombing Canada is an experience like no other. To top it off, revelers will be able take part in exhilarating activities such world-class ski and snowboard competitions, DJ battles, and much, much more.”
Beyond the 17 year history and Coors Light sponsorship, Snowbombing will be hosted by Vancouver based Blueprint Events. If there’s anything we’ve learned about Blueprint, it’s to expect an incredible weekend. The folks at Blueprint has been behind some of our favorite events this year already including FVDED in the Park and Seasons. They’re certainly no stranger to putting together a lineup of artists that will have you counting down the days until gates open. With an official lineup announcement coming later this fall, we can’t help but put in a few requests in the hopes they are heard out.
– SKiiTour: I mean…COME ON! If there was ever a festival for them to be at, it’s this one. They also wouldn’t need to use their snow machines!
– Odesza: If the idea of hometown heroes, Odesza on a stage with a snow covered mountain back drop doesn’t excite you then we can’t help you
– KYGO: Tropical house inside an igloo? YES PLEASE!
– Big Grizmatik: This is just wishful thinking, but someone send us this power trio!
For up-to-date ticketing information we suggest subscribing to their email list at the official Snowbombing Canada website or liking their Facebook page. We’re already excited to see what Snowbombing will have in store for us, and we hope to see a few of you on the mountain. As always be sure to follow us on Instagram and Twitter, and like us on Facebook for news, music, and more!
