SUNDAY!
We started our day with snow yoga, which is just as ridiculous as it sounds.
See what we mean? Just amazing. Sunday was a day to explore the slopes, sample some food, and get ready for arguably the two biggest draws of the festival, Big Wild and Odesza.
Odesza was in short, surreal. The energy was palpable, honestly and truly. While they were setting up, you knew they were going to be something special. Between their live renditions of everything from their biggest tracks, to the disco classic Locomotion, it was one of the most incredible things we’ve been able to witness. You can tell why they were on top of this festival bill, and it showed.
Big Wild really brought us to a feely place, with his beautiful melodies and instant hits, it reallycertainly got us feeling some kind of way.
Now, Sunday officially became the only day where we had any sort of complaints over the festival layout. The venues themselves were well set up, but the capacities didn’t quite align with the acts there. The Crystal Cave was one of our favourite venues for the weekend, but putting acts like Chuurch, Black Tiger Sex Machine, and Borgore there on the last night of the festival did cause disappointment.
The lines going into these venues were stretching back to the chalets, and it ended with a lot of people missing the acts they came to the festival to see. We did manage to catch some of Black Tiger Sex Machine who once again proved why their sets are called “going to church.” Then, we made our way over to The Underground to catch house dynamos Gorgon City, who closed out the festival with some classic house grooves.
All in all, it was an absolutely stellar weekend. Getting to spend 4 days at the beautiful Sun Peaks Grand Resort, catching world class music, adventuring in the snow, enjoying the seemingly thousands of hot tubs on site, and doing it all representing DMNW? Sounds like paradise to us!
Big thank you’s to Fanatic Creative who provided the photos for this amazing weekend, Sun Peaks Grand Hotel for hosting the whole shindig, my wonderful partner in crime Stephanie who subbed in at the last minute to help us out with the review, and of course, all the friends we got to meet along the way. We will absolutely be back to this one, so stay tuned! Until next year, Snowbombing!
Who joined us on Sun Peaks? What was your favourite part? Let us know in the comments!
