Imagine a dubstep DJ serving as the focus for a comic book. It may seem a bit far fetched at first but you don’t have to imagine it yourself. Monday it became a reality; Snails is launched a comic book titled “The Sluggernaut: The Shell” on November 26.
Not only that, but the apparent cover points to the potential for multiple volumes of “Slugz Comics”. The first 11 pages can be viewed online, and then immediate go and order the rest, because it’s a gem.
The online preview reveals a slug filled city, overrun by frogs before a slug protagonist finds an ancient weapon to fight back. If you’ve ever read comics, you can bet this one is full of all the onomatopoeia you can get your hands on. Maybe you’re into that sort of thing, so great! You can look forward to Snails’ “bigger vision” he alluded to in a tweet.
Since the beginning of the Snails journey, my music has always been attached to a story. King Slugz, SLUGGTOPIA, The Shell and SLIMEAGEDDON are all part of a bigger vision – one that hasn’t ever been fully explained.

He describes the release as a way of showing the inspiration behind his albums and live shows. Surely, there’s no better way to demonstrate that than the visual and fantastic medium of a comic book. We’re pumped for the start of what looks to be a very promising adventure.
