Despite holding on to the last bits of our summer days, the sunshine season is quickly wrapping up. Our favorite tribal mask wearing producer, Slow Magic, has released a smooth tune to help you ride out the last days of August. We saw Slow Magic open up for Odesza last year at Nuemos and were mesmerized by his phenomenal performance and persistence to anonymity. In a recent interview, he explains why being anonymous is important to him and that the attraction to his music comes before any personal detail.
“Not to sound rude about it, but the reason I wanted it to be this way from the start was that so people get focused on the music before they focus on a state or a location or a story,” he says. “I wanted to challenge the way music could be presented. I’m not the first anonymous musician but it’s fun for me to try and figure out things sometimes with other bands and other musicians too.”
Waited 4 U is a sweeping new addition to Slow Magic’s collection. He continues to add his signature sound of colorful synths and energetic percussion while still making the song new and refreshing. Innovative and far from being pigeon-holed into a specific genre, SM reminds us why we love his musical style, dubbed as “imaginary friend.” For now, enjoy while the music and sun soak into your body, and remember why you’re alive.
We are excited to announce that Slow Magic will be coming to Nuemos again this October. You can find tickets here.
