Last week the legendary EDM duo Slander began their latest tour, titled Chimera. To start this tour off with a bang, they chose to debut their newest audio-visual journey at none other than the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington.
The show brought thousands of people from across the Pacific Northwest to sing, cry, and headbang together while witnessing Slander’s newest releases, unreleased songs, and timeless classics under the same spherical roof.
RIOT
To greet eager ravers as they entered the historic Tacoma Dome, Israeli-born DJ Duo RIOT wowed us with a diverse and energetic set. They worked the crowd well and surprised us with every transition, playing everything from techno to tearout. After seeing them perform at Bass Canyon just last month, they did not disappoint in keeping their tracklist fresh and full of ear-catching tunes.
IMANU B2B NITEPUNK
With the dancefloor quickly crowding with fans and fanatics, Imanu and Nitepunk approached the decks. The two DJs played a masterful set full of brutalist styles and hybrid trap compositions. They, along with all of the artists for this event showed us a wide range of genres and aesthetics that we always love to see in a lineup.
DIMENSION
Up next, we witnessed one of the best drum and bass sets in recent memory from EDM veteran Dimension. From classic rolling basses and amen breaks to remixes of popular new songs, Dimension gave us a masterclass in DnB. His modernist black and white visuals allowed us to take in all the sounds he had to offer while keeping our eyes locked on the stage.
SLANDER
Finally, Slander took the stage to present their newest production, Chimera. They began with a cinematic opener that brought us into a touching intergalactic love story. With the drop of the first song, lights, lasers, and incredible visuals left us starstruck. Their set took off at breakneck speed with many songs from their latest album Thrive, as well as old classics like Good Vibrations and their biggest song to date, Love is Gone. From one drop to the next, they took us into the heights with emotional and touching songs, and into the depths with neck-breaking bangers and edits that you had to be there to believe.
As time always flies when fun is had, the night was over as quickly as it began. We left the Tacoma Dome elated and thankful to be present for such a special night with Slander and ravers from across the Pacific Northwest.
