SKisM Electrifies Refuge Portland (Event Review)

[numblock num=”8″ style=”3″]SKisM took a Portland warehouse and turned it into a dancing wonderland. Despite some drama with security, the night was all about bass. Heavy drops rocked the building and proved that dubstep is still very much alive.[/numblock]

Walking into Refuge Portland on Friday night, the energy was crazy.  Nobody had any insight on the drama that would soon be coming their way.  Local fan favorites Hal V and Spacecase started the night out throwing down sick beats and thoroughly entertaining the crowd. Everyone was getting their groove on and having the time of their lives. Towards the end of their set Hal V and Spacecase had a few technical difficulties, but that didn’t halt the good vibes. The crowd continued dancing and sending cheers up to the stage as the set wrapped up.

The night and the dancing went on as Mayhem took to the stage. He started his set strong and everyone was smiling from ear to ear. About fifteen minutes in, one of Mayhem’s friends had an altercation with club security and he stopped his set completely to jump into the action, bringing truth to his stage name. Confusion was in the air and the crowd rushed around to get a good look at what was happening. After the tiff was over Mayhem rejoined the stage, giving a nice “f*** you” to security and promising the party would continue. It did.

Finally it was time for Skism to grace the stage, and the masses were eager to hear his famous, filthy dubstep beats. SKisM stepped up to his four deck table and the roars began. Insane dance beats bounced off the walls and electrified the entire room. Between crowd pleasers like Knife Party’s Bonfire to Dillon Francis’ new track with DJ Snake, Get Low, the variety of genres kept the partygoers’ feet moving all night long. To say that the evening was a success would be an understatement. Portland will without a doubt be readily waiting for SKisM’s return.
