Mike Stewart, Amphitheatre Stage Director
The Amphitheatre lit up at night is a sight to behold
What does the 20th annual Shambhala mean to you?
The 20th show is definitely a huge landmark in my eyes. We used to talk about how ‘one day’ we would bring every DJ we ever wanted to hear, and be one of the top parties in the world. We’ve achieved that.
Being onsite early, things somehow feel different. People are feeling nostalgic, the vibe is higher than ever, and it feels like important aspects are running more smoothly than ever. Every facet of the show has upped their efficiency, quality and presentation. Guests can expect a lot of new surprises, while still having the amenities they’ve become accustomed to and their traditional comfort zones.
How will that be reflected in your stage this year?
This year the stage will feel more complete and segregated from the surrounding areas. It will be a more private zone with new vantage points.
I think our lineup is a good representation of new, old and in-between. Our music will draw everybody in at some point throughout the weekend, and our freshly upgraded sound system is undeniably impressive. Bring your earplugs!
