Many people call Shambhala ‘home’. Every home has a Living Room. A comfort space. A place to relax and host friends and family. The Pride and family have been nurturing this space for 14 years, and there’s a chair in the river waiting for you. The only non-permanent stage, The Living Room is rearranged yearly due to the ever-changing landscape of the Salmo River in spring. Expect major renovations to this years landscape. Still playing the main role of Shambhalas “chill” stage with the glacier fed river we have loved so much over the years and the selection of artists and DJs that compliment this atmosphere, we take pride in keeping it deeply rooted in family and local community.
Head designer and artistic engineer Miche at Barnbarn designs is constructing a portable stage design which will also be making a special appearance at Burning Man this year to make you feel right in space. Kelceys Creations will also be adding her twist of Bali that will be a total surprise to everyone until showtime.
Our visuals crew Inkspoon and friends from many years are coming back to add that much needed candy that our eyes have grown to love with more crazy mappin , tripped out lighting and lanterns that take on resemblance of Alice In Wonderland in one moment or the Land of Oz the next.
If Shambhala was planet Tattooine from Star wars the Living Room would be the Canteena bar with spaced out jazz and alien funk wofting out from it. If Shambhala was Middle Earth the Living Room would be the “Shire” we invite you to come frollic in it.
This year we have finally dedicated a day to the original format of the DJ, the vinyl record which seems to be an endangered species on the brink of extinction these days. We’ve given house music a much needed permanent residency and dedicated a whole night to it for those who crave oontz oontz deep into the morning hours. The Living Room is your home and sanctuary to come back to earth or (space) when you need to ground down and feel the love of your friends and family you have loved and lost over the years. We have dedicated this stage to those souls who are no longer with us today but there memory will live forever through us here.
