Every stage at Shambhala has it’s own unique atmosphere and The Grove is no different. This stage features music from the genres of bass, funk, and downtempo electric tunes. The stage is a paradise complete with lush gardens, an art gallery, The Hive tea shop and of course gnomes.

Friday

Join Soul Fire Dance in ceremonial prayers and dance at the opening ceremonies for The Grove (at 1 p.m. on Friday). At 2 p.m, Nelson resident FRASE will be throwing down some future soul, followed by Naasko‘s wildly unique sound born out of twenty years of experience in multiple facets of the electronic scene. Western Canadian Dubstep artist Westerley will take the stage from 4 p.m – 5 p.m, quickly followed by a performance by Shambhala fan-favorite Dubconscious.

The Canadian representation doesn’t cool its heels just yet, as Metafloor (from Calgary) takes his footwork and jungle tunes to the stage from 6 p.m – 7.pm. Phonk and lofi artist Puar will take the stage with his hip-hop infused tunes from 7 p.m – 8 p.m. Note: For those uninitiated to the ‘phonk’ genre, here’s a handy article from Noisey Vice, giving a breakdown of the genre’s many interpretations.

Genre bending Vancouver producer S2 takes over the Grove at 8 p.m, quickly followed by grime and deep dubstep artist SHINY THINGS from 9 p.m. – 10:15 p.m. Performance art company Made In Alchemy will put on an unforgettable show, between their original costuming, choreography and music. Charlesthefirst brings his trippy (yet dream-like) downtempo creations infused with hip-hop from 10:30 p.m. – 12 a.m. The Grammy award-winning duo Brasstracks will be on stage right after with some pumping jazzy beats.

New Jersey resident Clams Casino will take over the stage with his bass heavy hip-hop tracks from 1 a.m – 2:30 a.m. The worlds of DnB and dubstep collide when J:KENZO takes the stage from 2:30 a.m to 4 a.m, when dubstep duo Daega Sound take over until 5:30 a.m. And last, but not least, turntablist Melo.Nade closes out The Grove on friday night with what is expected to be a pumping midtempo set.

Saturday

Lazy Syrup Orchestra will pull off the most mellow mixes of soul, world and hip-hop. Nelson trap and grime collective NGHTSHFT from 5:30 – 6:30. Vancouver resident GLYDE, the individual that curates the music for Subscura, get onstage at 6:30. Onstage at 7:30 p.m is Leland Riiivr, followed by Vancouver’s Max Ulis and another incredible performance by Subscura. Then we get a treat with a classic performance from Mat The Alien x The Librarian, followed by Grime producer D Double E from and UK Bass artist Synkro. Downtempo artist Goopsteppa takes the second to last slot in the evening, and Portland native PRSN closes out the stage at 7 a.m.

Following that epic act is electronic r&b trio IMUR and at 8 p.m. Living Room Stage co-founder Hoola hits the decks. At 9:15 p.m., The Grove crowd gets a taste of the electronic roots group Moontricks.

Circus Acts Insomniacs, the performance troupe from Nelson, will entertain the crowd with their theatrical show which includes fire performances and stilt walking. Downtempo artist IHF (which stands for ‘Imagined Herbal Flows’) plays until midnight, at which time French producer Fakear takes the stage. Next up is German producer Christian Löffler whose new tunes have been produced using self-recorded instruments. The last act on the Sunday schedule is Chord Marauders, made of members FLO, Congi, B9 and Jafu. The groups jazzy atmospheric stylings are the perfect way to conclude the day.

Monday

Ah Monday morning. The last day of Shambhala 2018 where the music only runs until noon. Barisone comes onstage for the second time at Shambhala 2018. Glitch hop producer and Shambhala fan-favorite Application is the closing act for The Grove Stage.

The Grove: Cedar Lounge

The Grove’s Cedar Lounge stage is the place that attendees go to learn through a variety of workshops in addition to hosting some up and coming experimental producers and DJs.

Friday

The last act for Friday night is More Like Space, whose music has a dreamy downtempo sound, layered with live guitar.

At 10:30 p.m., Portland down-tempo bass artist Lazouli will be onstage until midnight, followed by Toronto artist OBESØN until 1:30 a.m. Chicago producer Edamame, whose music has hints of r&b and hip-hop, is on until 1:30 a.m . Last act of the night is Scott Sterling, aka Drumspyder, an artist with a unique specialization in percussion instruments, closing the stage at 4:30 a.m.

Sunday

Pete Moss kicks off the Sunday celebrations for the Cedar Lounge stage. Following him is a Nelson producer that’s not afraid to mess around with every genre out there. That producer’s name is SEATHRON and you can be sure that his performance will have elements of grime, r&b and jazz. Following this epic act is Siadic, the dynamic brother duo hailing from Vancouver. Following their diverse set is Salt Spring Island producer Matsya until 3 a.m. whendeep bass artist Commodity closes the stage.
