Per usual, yet another Northwest-based artist is putting out quality music. This time, it’s Seattle-based producer Gruv1. His debut two-track EP was released via Seattle-based label Build It DEEP earlier this week. They are the first original tunes from Gruv1, with his downtown remix of ZHU’s Faded out in mid-July.
Each tune features a distinct sound and takes the listener in different directions, but both involve groovy melodies that are perfect for the dance floor. End of Summer is the tune you can have on repeat without realizing it, and not be mad about it. The polished feel of the track gives each layer an added emphasis, which keeps the listener’s attention in an almost hypnotic fashion. Turn Around takes a darker, bass-infused house direction that draws those within earshot to groove like a snake charmer would a cobra. If you can listen to Turn Around without a ‘head-bob’, ‘toe-tap’, ‘hip-wiggle’, or similar dancing motion, then you are a robot without the ability to feel. In that case, Gruv1’s debut EP isn’t for you.
