For the past 14 years, the Breakspoll has been a legitimate litmus for talent in the breaks scene. The Breaks scene has not gained a lot of traction (yet!) in the American music scene. However, around the world, it is highly regarded by many music markets. Recently, a Seattle native, Justin Alson, (better known as Blacklist) has been nominated for the second year in a row as Best New Producer.
This is significant since not many Americans receive this honor, let alone someone from the northwest music scene. Notable artists being nominated in the breaks poll include Deekline, Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors, and Skeewiff, all of whom are well known in the music circuit.
The Breakspoll isn’t like the dodgy top 100 DJ poll that mix mag puts on every year, although it does have some elements. The way it works is that people will vote on the nominations that Breakspoll has chosen, based on merit of the artist and fit the definition of a breaks producer. So, if you’re are not talented to begin with, there’s a good chance you will not be nominated. This allows them to filter out artists who might have a huge marketing budget to get your votes, yet not actually deserve what they get. That being said, you can vote for someone to get nominated, but under strict rules.
Breakspoll provides shortlists for some of the awards to help you vote. However, for all categories you can vote for whoever you want to by selection “Choose your own” and then inputting your selection. You can vote for whoever you think deserves to win. We use advanced techniques to catch any cheaters, and if you submit multiple votes, ALL your votes will be deleted. You have been warned!
If you are a supporter of Blacklist and think he deserves the award for Best New Producer, then head to their page and send him a vote. Voting ends on Friday, February 6th, 2015 at 4pm GMT. Winners will be awarded at an event in London, England on the 2nd of May.

Now Blacklist has been moved to the nomination of best OVERALL producer and is nominated in two more categories: Best radio show with Broken Grooves and Best Track of the Year for Make Em featuring MC Flave (who is also out of Seattle as well). Big things on the way for these Northwest natives.
