Well even if you don’t consider yourself to be, here at DMNW we are excited to share, and perhaps introduce you to the wonderful world of hardcore. In a week, Artic Productions will have, on February 14 (*hint hint* Potential Valentines Day Gift), full details and tickets for Kamehameha 3. A unique opportunity to catch S3RL in the NW!
And after you’ve bought you’re hardcore significant other a ticket and want to get even more out of the day there are awesome shows to catch in the area. S3RL usually plays a UK hardcore and happy hardcore style of music, although it should be noted that S3RL has released a track in the recent past dubbed ‘genre police’ so we aren’t going to say that he’s solely a hardcore DJ lest we find ourselves being a genre police ourselves. S3RL touches on many elements in his music whether that be clichés from the rave culture, nods to various cartoons/animes/mangas, or perhaps humorous satirical lyrics that poke fun at real life experiences that have emerged in the scene.
His discography is pretty impressive in that his music is, in some ways, almost an anthology of what the techno, electronica, “EDM” world has become in more recent years. We especially liked his piece Put Your Phones Up in the Air as, like most of his humorous songs, he doesn’t directly bash the idea but it’s almost impossible to not pick up on the satire. His classic Press Play Walk Away also seems to play on a more satirical side as well. And as we could drone on about songs like Pika Girl (here we note a nod to the classic Pokemon franchise) or Little Kandi Raver (a nod to the kandikid culture) the song that is our favorite and will always have a special place in our hearts is Happy Hardcore Tonight
Literally, this event is worth it just for the sake of being able to catch DJ S3RL and the other artists who are going to be present will only make the deal even sweeter! So be sure to get tickets when they go on sale as it will quite possibly sell out. If this doesn’t seem like the show for you because you can’t get down with the music, it’s cool just say no to the question; are you hardcore enough? [bpm_ad]
