Every year thousands of people throughout the Northwest “Do The Puyallup” and gather for the largest single attraction held annually in the state of Washington. The Puyallup Fairgrounds, a place where we’re used to seeing farm animals, carnival rides, cotton candy and more, was turned into something quite spectacular for the 10,000 attendees of Electric Run.
As thousands gathered in anticipation for their journey through the electrifying course, music began blasting and everyone began to sing along. People came decked out wearing their whole neon wardrobe, some even decided to throw on some florescent face paint. There was literally a sea of smiles and we could feel the excitement flowing through the air.
Once the sun set, the countdown had began and the first wave of people had begun their journey under a flood of lights as the Electric Run Crew started throwing free merchandise from above. As you went along there were many different themed areas including upside down umbrellas that glowed of pastel colors, black lights everywhere, amazing arches that were constantly changing colors and of course, the famed “Neffmau5 Land” dedicated to current EDM star Deadmau5. It was an amazing atmosphere because every zone throughout the course was unique, something that most of us had probably never experienced before.
At the finish line there were refreshments and a huge dance party waiting for us that went well into the night. A huge stage, lasers, big sound with one of our favorite local DJs, Tap Tap laid down tracks for hours as everyone danced crazily. There was even a marriage proposal on the main stage (we thought that only happened at EDC)!
One of the things that stuck with us most about the Electric Run is that they pick a charity to donate to in every city. In Seattle, they chose the Special Olympics community. I found that very awesome and humbling of such a huge organization to contribute to something some of our staff have been supporting for years. Not only do we want to thank you for such an amazing experience, thank you for also giving back to our community!
All in all, Electric Run Seattle was a huge success and we highly recommend attending this amazing adventure when it joins a city near you. Promoting exercise in a very positive and happy environment is hard to beat!
