As festival season rolls to a close, we reminisce on the fact that live shows came back this year and all the good times that we’ve had. Some of our biggest excitement stemmed from the fact that our beloved Gorge venue booked electronic shows again and welcomed us with open arms.
One of the biggest events — Insomniac’s first rendition of Beyond Wonderland PNW this year — went above and beyond all our expectations. Everything from the camping, art installations, onsite vendors, and stages, all were such a delight whether you attended or not. We hope to paint you the perfect picture so we can relive the magic.
Camping
Whether you were in terrace or standard camping, it was a beautiful sight. We were initially surprised by the crowd (we hadn’t seen so many people in one spot for so long!) and patiently awaited our turn to enter.
The lines went quite quickly and the overall process was a breeze. We had plenty of space to spread ourselves out, but were close enough to make friends with the neighbors. The best part was the onsite vendors; food, clothing, rave essentials, jewelry; everything in one hub with free water stations and picnic tables.
It was a fantastic place to gather and meet up with friends old and new. Another great aspect was the pre-party in the camping area along with other events all happening around or before the show. Music and yoga anyone? It was such a joy to see smiling faces and know there were other fun activities to participate in outside of the festival itself.
The festival
With stage names like Cheshire Woods, Caterpillar’s Garden, and Fractal Valley, you know you’re about to go down the rabbit hole and have a great time. Everything was decked out to the nines in a Wonderland theme with amazing art installations, carnival rides, and people in costume everywhere you looked.
During the daytime, the sunshine and blue skies painted the perfect setting for a weekend at The Gorge. We could tell by the smiling faces and overall vibes that everyone in attendance was just happy to be back home. We started out the weekend with some amazing sets from Wuki, Green Velvet, and Drezo, but of course, the fun didn’t stop there.
We danced like no one was watching. We breathed in the amazing atmosphere, the constant energy, and the fantastic music. Some of the most surprising sets included Sullivan King with nonstop heart-pounding bass hits, Tiesto with his always-energetic tunes, and Steve Aoki, whose cake tossing still gets us jazzed. Thankfully, we can relive the magic all thanks to these fantastic photographers who captured some of the festival’s greatest moments.
Needless to say, we had an amazing time and cannot wait until the next edition of Beyond Wonderland PNW in June of next year!
