Kill Paris’ unmistakable funk sound is hard not to love. His appreciation for the origins of dance music, funk, and live instrumentals all come together to create a glitch-hop style that would make Big Gigantic proud.
Yesterday he dropped a remix over 30 years in the making, giving 1976 funk hit “Play That Funky Music” a modern twist. It kicks off with the classic guitar riff from the original Wild Cherry song, and then transitions into what can only be described as a perfect glitchy drop. We can only hope that this is the beginning of a trend to remix every big funk song from the 70s, because this is exactly the kind of music that breathes life into the genre.
