Bassnectar is never one to follow the rules that bind most artists. He doesn’t just release singles or EPs, no, he releases what he dubs a “5-track single,” headlined by “Take You Down,” along with four additional unreleased songs. Each one has a unique story told by the pulsating bass and ethereal wobble that defines his style, as the whole thing amounts to just another spectacularly uncommon collection of dubstep.
But giving us five brand new tracks wasn’t enough for the bass giant, as mere hours later he released a 50-minute mix of “brand new music as well as some vintage selections and re-creations, with exclusives including remixes of Grimes, The Deftones, Lux and Telefon Tel Aviv.” It’s called Side Two of Bassnectar’s “Immersive Mixtape,” and it’s the icing on the cake of a perfect day of dirty bass music.
You can download “Take You Down” here, and can get Side Two of the “Immersive Mixtape” over here for free. Both are available to stream below in the likely event you find yourself unable to stop listening to Bassnectar.
