The electronic dance music scene in Portland is rapidly evolving. Spearheaded by Doki Doki Productions, the newest powerhouse production company in the Rose City, new club nights, more appearances by the biggest names in the scene, and a new community focused on embracing ALL electronic genres await Pacific Northwest ravers. Change is in the air in south Cascadia and, whether you live in Oregon or not, it’s time to take notice.
Led by co-owners/curators Gregorio Sanchez (or Bennyrox if you go by his DJ alias) and wife Emma Rose, Doki Doki seeks to collect Portland’s local DJs and various EDM club nights (Whiskey Wednesday, Fak Wednesdays, NGHTMARE, WAVES, and much more) and place them under one umbrella. Instead of multiple agendas going on across the city, a unified front has been created to promote, and enhance, a budding, diverse electronic music scene. After listening to some Doki Doki sound, we feel this new scene will have something to satisfy every taste bud out there. Listen for yourself!
Currently, Doki Doki has a full slate of events lined up all the way to early August, which includes a show by UK house maestro Low Steppa on June 29th at Whiskey Bar, one of our favorite clubs here at Dance Music NW. Ticket information, as well as other happenings (Anime Edge & Dance, anyone?!), can be found on Facebook.
