“Since its inception the dance music community has been defined by positivity, ingenuity, and unity. It is now time to channel our strength to help shape the future we want to live in.” (Rave the Vote)
Okay, confession time: I’ve never been to a voter registration party. That’s about to change though. How could I pass up seeing A-Trak, Sofi Tukker, TOKiMONSTA, Vindata, and Yaeji while also getting my politics on in one of the craziest years I’ve ever lived through?
Rave the Vote will definitely be the dopest registration party of the year (at least for us rave kids.) Set to unfold over four 12-hour long streams of music & education, the party starts July 24th. Follow up dates August 14th, September 11th, and October 2nd lead right up to the general election in November!
Personal favorites asides, every single name on the lineup should be a treat. Selected to cover a breadth of genres, the lineup also represents diverse voices making waves in the industry. Come to get your groove on. Stay to celebrate the crazy unique humans who are producing beats today.
Take Marea Stamper (aka The Black Madonna) for example. Originally from rural Kentucky, Stamper lived with her Christian family when she snuck into her first rave at 14 years old. After dropping out of high school, she traveled around America selling mixtapes and rave gear at parties.
She ended up studying English at Louisville University and learned to DJ at her college radio station. Today? The Black Madonna delivers soulful disco vibes and driving techno beats. Her creamy clean production style feels like Shea Butter on your ears. Oh, and she’s a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.

Thank you for raising awareness for voter registration. This is, by far, our most important election and young adults have the power in numbers to make a difference. Well written…great article!
