Ratatat is an amazingly unique band coming to Seattle on Tuesday AND Thursday, composed of Mike Stroud and Evan Mast. Their complex and unique sound bridges between the world of electronica and indie rock with elements of hip hop providing the base of the span.
Ratatat formed around 14 years ago while the two were attending college at Skidmore College. Although, they weren’t known as Ratatat back then; originally they were known as Cherry. Since then, Ratatat has produced five albums and toured with some of the music scene’s biggest bands. A Ratatat show is kind of like a psychedelic rock show that you would see from the late 60s, accompanied by an amazing light show to boot. Evan Mast even creates his own visual graphics. Most of the visuals he has created can also be seen on Youtube if you care to explore.
Ratatat has created a cult following and tour Seattle frequently (relatively speaking). So you might think to yourself that it’s OK to miss this show because they’ll be back soon. Well, to misinterpret the famous Warren Miller quote: “If you didn’t go this year, you’ll be a little bit older when you do next time.” Opportunities to see groups like Ratatat are few and far between, and you should take any opportunity you can to see an amazing show. You can find tickets here. This is a 21 and over event, so sorry little ones, you will have to wait.
