The past few days in the Pacific Northwest have been filled with buzz of the impending storm of the century. Weather forecasters are calling for heavy rain, flooding, extremely high winds, and disaster-like outcomes. We will leave the survival tips (like how to keep your fridge cold in a power outage or provide first aid) to the experts. We’re here to provide you with some music and videos to enjoy while the storm rages around you. So bust out some chicken noodle soup and a cozy blanket, because it’s time to turn down for couch!
Worlds by Porter Robinson
Hands down, one of our favorite albums of all time. Not to mention the live performances could hail as one of the most visually satisfying things that we have seen in dance music. So while the rain is pouring and the wind is howling, delude with the power of the Worlds album. If you didn’t have the chance to see Worlds live, then check out this awesome Youtube video of the amazing visuals that were on display on the tour.
Acoustic I & II by Above and Beyond
When it comes to sheer artistic talent, Above and Beyond are in a realm of their own. They have taken all of their most popular and transformed them into an acoustic sound that is so familiar, yet incredibly new and different. It’s as though they have found a way to distill all of the most beautiful human emotions and project them in a sonic cascade to touch your soul.
The albums themselves have given credence to electronic music by translating the beauty of the genre to people who might otherwise have not given it a chance. In a sense they have brought a whole new wave of people into the scene. Watch this Thump documentary on their very first Acoustic performance at Portchester Hall in London, and prepare to be taken away into a world of pure beauty.
We Are Your Friends
We know what you are thinking: “Why on earth would I want to watch this teeny bopper flick?” Why? … Because it is actually a decent movie. Not an academy award deserving movie, but one that is better than expected. We were just as shocked as anyone. In fact we even heralded it as the biggest farce to hit the theaters that summer based on a really, really poorly edited trailer. Never-the-less our minds were changed once we saw it. Give it a chance and see how accurately it reflects your own life in the electronic music scene. If you’re thick in it, you are bound to find a character you can relate to or at least know in real life.
The Armin Only Intense World Tour – The Final Show
Armin Van Buuren is a one of the most highly regarded DJs and Producers in the world. His name is recognized everywhere you go. This performance is an example of why that is the way it is. This video includes a myriad of different performers that accompany this dance music luminary that add a level of showmanship rivaled by few in the electronic music world. Watch this video, and prepare for an Intense day coddled by your couch.
What’s in My Baggie? (Documentary)
Now we wouldn’t be Dance Music Northwest if we didn’t include some sort of Harm Reduction information. This is a very informative and well-made documentary on the realities of the black market drug trade and the efforts to help make it safer. Besides, whats better than watching documentaries on a rainy day? Might as well learn something while you’re all cooped up with your friends or by yourself. Enjoy this documentary while while the weather outside is frightful!
And Here’s a Fire That Is So Delightful 😉

Not everyone is blessed to have a fireplace. So settled in front of this 10 hours burning fire, bust out some board games and enjoy your evening at home.
