On this Easter Weekend, it’s important to maintain a semblance of reverence. Lent may be over, but these few days are to be reserved for quiet introspection and thoughtful meditation. Eat the occasional chocolate bunny if you wish, have a feast with your family, but remember that this is the ‘what’ you should turn down for.
Or, conversely, you could bump Tchami’s killer new remix of Caroline Koch’s Timeless and get down.
The track’s a pretty massive departure from Tchami’s typical sound, as the producer is best known for creating the genre of future house. The gritty, garage bassline Tchami is famous for is nowhere to be found—but that by no means diminishes the remix’s power. It’s a deep house throwback infused with trap hi-hats that accentuate the eerily peppy synths.
Structurally though, the song’s a bit eclectic. The vocal sample, while a frequent theme throughout the track, takes on the role of an instrument rather than a typical lyrical element. It’s commendable and unique, to be sure, but the groove of Timeless begs for something to tie everything together. But, all things considered, it’s a hell of a song.
Is it sacrilegious to support an artist known for rocking priestly attire on Easter weekend? Quite probably. Is it a little disrespectful to blast EDM at a feast with your entire extended family? Most definitely.
Do it anyway.
