After prolific career, where has Pretty Lights gone?

Pretty Lights and his live band have not performed live since August 2018 at Red Rocks. The topic of self-imposed breaks has been well discussed in our community. We stand by artists who want to take breaks from the anxiety of touring. The breaks that Madeon and Flume took in 2018 gave them time to recharge and produce exciting new music.

The situation with Pretty Lights is a little different. He has gone completely dark on social media since August 12, 2018. Pretty Lights never officially announced that he was going on a break, he just went quiet.

Thankfully over the last 16 months, we have received random Pretty Lights updates from his family, friends, and crew. We believe he is happy and healthy. The only information we receive is second hand.

The rumor is that the 38-year-old musician is hard at work on a new artist album. Taking time away from airplane life will certainly give Pretty Lights time to focus on his future music.

What about future shows? After Flume’s long absence he premiered his new show at Lollapalooza Chicago in 2019. Then Madeon’s first show after a long break was at Second Sky Music Festival for Porter Robinson.

For Pretty Lights, the rumors just keep growing. Halloween 2019 was rumored and then New Year’s Eve. Red Rocks is also an easy guess for the next performance. Eager fans were hoping Pretty Lights would sneak his way onto the Electric Forest Lineup.

If anyone actually knows when Pretty Lights will return, the rumor has not spread in the electronic community. There are no official announcements or big rumors. For now we will patiently await his return.

What do you think is going on with Pretty Lights? Will he return soon? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter!

This is the worst written article with zero information. The dude clearly has a major drug problem and has been in his basement doped out for years. To say you’ve talked to his friends and family and he’s “happy and healthy” is just untrue. You haven’t and he isn’t.

Chris Karns mad a shout out to him and the Pretty Lights Family at Mirage I’m surprised this isn’t getting any attention from the media. I think he’s letting his little brother and friends catch the spot light while he figures out his best album yet. All in good faith that he wants to see how dedicated his fans are time him and his success!!

IMHO he has some drugs problem. Already on old interviews he was not clean at all.

Well here we are, roughly 1/4 of the way through 2022 and still nothing. If he doesn’t release some amazing new music soon I will have lost all faith in the dude as an artist. There’s taking a break and then there’s retirement with all the money he collected from die hard fans that have far too long been left in the dark…..kinda rude move unless like I said he releases some incredible new music soon. Only time will tell if Pretty Lights has simply dimmed his lights took the money and run or makes an epic return.

No one can do that consistently, especially once theres pressure on an artist to keep it coming. Frankly as a producer I thinks theres times it can be helpful to just run through tracks and see what sticks but its also good to take ur time and focus on quality (not saying 8 years, thats just letting ur heat and ur audience fade away)….Im sure he’ll be back. Maybe he’s trying to make a beat without a sample for once and its just taking a little longer than he thought (light jab…still love you PL)

Ironically i actually find the silence less frustrating then when he was constantly posting about being in the studio making music that wouldn’t/hasn’t ever been released. How far we’ve come from 2010 when he dropped 3 of the dopest EP’s on the planet within the same calendar year… Sigh
