Green Velvet
Green Velvet, also known as Curtis Jones, is a vital part of the history of house music and an artist who’s been involved for more than two decades. Releasing his first song in 1991, the man who has a half-dozen aliases has first began his work as Green Velvet in 1993. Looking for a way to release music far different than anything else he’d done, Jones created Green Velvet: a David Bowie-inspired get-up, featuring neon colored hair and even more vibrant tunes. He’s continued the Green Velvet sound for years and released his latest album in 2013. His last performances in the Northwest came in 2013 as well, with performances at Decibel Festival and at Q Nightclub. An artist who’s impact on dance music will be felt long after his career is over, Green Velvet is a legend worthy of your attendance at Paradiso 2015.
Kill Frenzy
A favorite of Dirtybird boss Claude von Stroke, Belgian-born Kill Frenzy is one of our favorite bookings of Paradiso 2015. The now Berlin-based producer was a breakout artist of 2014, ‘killing it’ with his debut album Taylr Swft, which was of course released via Dirtybird Records. One of the key members of the tech house mini-revival that’s accompanied EDM’s American boom, Kill Frenzy is an artist that, years from now, will make this Paradiso lineup look even better. He’s going places, and we’ll be watching (and listening) the whole way, and that includes when he performs at The Gorge this summer.
Mija
Mija, also known as Amber Giles, is a Los Angeles-based producer who’s live-sets have become must-listen adventures come festival season. Her performances at TomorrowWorld, Bonnaroo, and more are regulars in our headphones and the idea of Mija throwing down one of her signature sets for her Northwest debut at The Gorge is too much to resist. While we may not be treated to a sunrise B2B set with Skrillex, we’re not doubting Mija’s ability to deliver at Paradiso 2015. While she’s considered tech house for this guide’s sake, Mija has shown no fear of taking on new genres. Her set, the only one at Paradiso 2015 featuring a female artist, should be something special this summer, and we won’t be missing out.
Dr. Fresch
An up and coming Los Angeles-based DJ who’s reputation is beginning to expand beyond the West Coast, Tony Fresch is another great-get for USC Events. Also known as Dr. Fresch, Tony began his career in 2009 and shortly thereafter was named the “Best College DJ in LA” in both 2011 and 2012. A classically trained musician, Fresch only recently began pursuing his passion full-time, after graduating from college in May of 2013. Playing and creating a unique blend of tech, deep, and nu-disco, Dr. Fresch is an artist that won’t be a West Coast secret for long, so join us on the bandwagon for his Northwest debut at Paradiso 2015.
