When we purchase tickets to a concert online, we have a stronger-than-normal desire to see that confirmation email in our inbox because that’s the first real proof that we didn’t just type in the card numbers: it means we’re in. Sometimes those emails are little more than receipts, and sometimes they are lengthy, full of warnings and disclaimers that most of us don’t really want to read.
If you’re a Porter Robinson fan purchasing tickets to see the Worlds tour this summer, you’re in luck: he wrote the confirmation email himself. The note has slightly sarcastic undertones, especially when it comes to the “obvious shit” but is hands down better than any other confirmation letter we’ve received before. Highlighting how his tour will be “more of a concert than a rave,” it lends some interesting insight into what we can expect from his sure-to-be-stunning live show.
Although Porter Robinson claims that he is not out to redefine dance music, he is certainly taking a unique approach to his music as of late. We were pretty perplexed by the promotional video for the Worlds tour, which was full of repeated strange images and sounds …and was ten hours long. Worlds is not due out until August 13, but Robinson has given us a few sneak peeks with Sea of Voices and his more recent Sad Machine.
We recently wrote about the tour schedule for Worlds, which will allow Porter to grace the PNW with his presence for five days in a row (!). No doubt about it, he’s a hard-working guy who brings a blend of spontaneity and that personal touch which resonates soundly with his dedicated fans. Grab tickets to his Seattle stop here!
